Officers

  • Maria Hekker, President
    Maria is a parent (6th grade and Class of '10), Trustee and former Vice President. Maria joined the SFS community in 1999. An international business lawyer, Maria is the former General Counsel of Barra and the former Chief Operating Officer of Thoughtware Worldwide
  • Barbara Landolt, Vice President, Chair, Committee of Trustees
    Trustee and parent of two elementary students (4th grade & 6th grade), Barbara joined the Board in 2008 and currently chairs the Audit/ Risk Management Committee. Prior to joining the board, Barbara was an active member of the investment committee and was a member of the financial task force during the last strategic planning process. Barbara is the Assistant Treasurer at AAA of Northern California, Nevada, and Utah (CSAA).
  • Marian Baldauf, Treasurer, Chair, Finance Committee
    Marian is a parent of a 3rd and 4th grader who joined the school community in 2005. Marian is a Vice President at Dodge & Cox, a San Francisco Investment Management Firm. Besides serving as Treasurer, Marian was a member of the Leadership Transition Committee.
  • Michael Northover, Secretary
    Michael and his family joined the SFS community in 2005 and he has been actively involved since that point. He has a daughter in 4th grade and a son in 2nd grade. Michael has served on multiple hiring committees and been a member of the Diversity Committee. He started his own business, JTM Developments LLC, almost two years ago in real estate development.

  • Ruth Chang Hess, Co-Chair, Risk Committee
    Ruth is a parent of a 1st and 2nd grader. During her five years at the school, Ruth has been actively involved in many school efforts including chairing the auction, serving as a room parent, admissions tour guide and a member of the website committee.
  • Orpheus Crutchfield
    Orpheus is a non-parent Trustee and President of Strategenius, an educational placement firm dedicated to developing leaders of color in independent schools. Orpheus has worked with the school since 1992, placing several of our faculty and administrators of color and joined the board in 2005.

  • Ellen Fey, LCSW, Chair, Public Purpose Committee
    For the past 17 years, Ellen has worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Stanford Hospital. At the school, Ellen has been actively involved on various committees and is often on campus capturing amazing photos of life at the school. Ellen is a parent of a 2nd grader.
  • Alicia Fernandez, M.D.
    Alicia is a parent of a 5th grader who joined the school community in 2004. Alicia is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at UCSF based at San Francisco General Hospital where she is currently a primary care physician.
  • Ginger Jackson-Gleich, 99
    Ginger is a graduate of The San Francisco School. She is currently a teacher at University High School. After graduating from the school, she attended University High School and the University of North Carolina as a Morehead-Cain Scholar.
  • John Hedges
    John is a Former Board President and Alumni Parent (Class of ’92 and Class of ’94). He has been part of the school community since 1981 and is the Executive Director of the Pro Bono Project Silicon Valley.
  • Sandra Hernandez, M.D. Co-Chair, Risk Committee
    Sandra is a parent of a 5th grader and is Chief Executive Officer of The San Francisco Foundation. In addition, she is an assistant clinical professor at UCSF School of Medicine and maintains an active clinical practice at San Francisco General Hospital in the AIDS clinic. Prior to joining the board, Sandra was a member of the Leadership Transition Committee.
  • Jeff Hord, Chair, Investment Committee
    Jeff is a parent of three daughters at the school in Kindergarten, 4th and 7th grade. He currently serves as a managing partner for an investment firm that he co-founded in 2006.  Prior to that he was a managing director for Barclays Global Investors where he worked from 1992 to 2006. Jeff will be the Investment Committee Chair, a committee he has served on for a number of year.
  • Clara Kwun, LCSW
    Clara has been actively involved at the school for a number of years. Prior to becoming President, Clara chaired the Committee on Trustees and the Leadership Transition Committee. In addition, Clara served on the Head of School Search Committee. Clara, who has a daughter in the 6th grade, is a licensed clinical social worker working in private practice.
  • Trey Lathe Co-Chair, Diversity Committee
    Trey is a parent of a 3rd grader. Prior to joining the board, Trey served on the Diversity Committee, been a member of school hiring committees and has volunteered for many school functions. A number of years ago, Trey co-founded OpenHelix, a genomics training and research biotech company, and is currently the Chief Scientific Officer.
  • Irene Lee, Chair, Audit Committee
    Irene is a parent of twins who are in 1st grade and a daughter in preschool. Irene chairs the Investment Committee and is also a member of the Project Committee. Irene retired in 2000 from a career in investment management. Most recently she was a managing partner at Palantir Capital investing in high tech companies.

  • Tom Little
    Tom is the Director at Park Day School in Oakland. Tom has spent his entire 33-year career at Park Day School. As one of the founding teachers in 1976, Tom taught grades 4-6 for ten years and has been Head of School for the past twenty-two years.
  • Dottie Mattison
    Dottie is a Senior Managing Director at Guggenheim Partners, LLC., Guggenheim Partners is a diversified financial services firm with more than $100 billion in assets. Dottie is a former parent who chaired the 2007 Tuition Assistance Auction with great success. She was a Trustee during the 2006-2007 school year and was the Development Committee Chair. Dottie and her husband, Craig live in Rye, NY and are the parents of three boys, Ned 4th grade, Hank 2nd grade and Chase (4yo). Both Ned and Hank spent a number of years attending The San Francisco School.
  • Steve Morris, Head of School

  • Liza Pannozzo, AIA, Chair, Project Committee
    Liza joined the Board in 2007. Prior to that, Liza volunteered for several years on the Site committee. Liza is an architect and has worked with many schools in the Bay Area. Liza’s son is in the 5th grade.
  • Gretchen Sandler, Chair, Campaign Committee
    Trustee and parent of a 4th grader and 1st grader, Gretchen joined the Board in 2007. She has taught 3rd grade and worked extensively with new and mentor teachers in San Francisco. Prior to joining the board, she was a room parent and active volunteer in the preschool.
  • Carl Scheidenhelm, Chair, Site Committee
    Carl is a parent of a 4th grader. Over the past several years, Carl has been a dedicated volunteer working on the site committee and volunteering his skills as an architect. He was deeply involved in the recent SFS Master Planning process.

  • Chris Yin, Co-Chair, Diversity Committee
    Chris is a parent of three daughters at The School, who are in 6th grade, 3rd grade and 1st grade. Chris, whose family joined the SFS community in 2002, is the chair of the Diversity Committee. A classroom teacher since 1992, Chris is the Freshman-Sophomore Class Dean at Lick-Wilmerding High School.
