Third Grade Overview
Third graders confidently explore their expanding world. Conducting experiments, launching individual projects, engaging in small group work, and participating in class discussion, they bring their lively hands and minds to a rich array of activities:
- As stewards of the environment, they visit a pond and return to the laboratory to identify macro invertebrates.
- As citizens of the world, they study Mexican history and culture and appreciate the legacy of California’s First People.
- As mathematicians, they explore number patterns, puzzle over logic quandaries, investigate geometry and solve problems.
- As lovers of language, they read Cinderella Stories from around the world, write outlandish Tall Tales, memorize classic poems, and try to use the “word of the week” in their daily life.

* Elementary School classes are split during Math, Language Arts and Spanish thus making the student teacher ratio approximately 1:5. This allow for more concentrated one-on-one attention during the study of core academic subjects.
