Capture The Light

In her Extended Day class, Tiphani Russell and her 1st-4th grade students use light to create art work and discuss how a variety of light sources affect how we see things and how the light makes people feel.

Last week the students used frosted glasses filled with stones covered with wax paper and shined flashlights through the glass which created abstract patterns and designs. Students traced the designs made by the light reflecting off the stones and frosted glass.

Students experimented with the amount of stones and some removed the wax paper and discovered that new patterns were made. Students then traced the designs using pencil, and finished with markers and colored pencils.

Take a look at the process and final results!
