Cellphone Policy

Updated Policy for All Students

Any student cell phones brought to school should be turned off upon arrival to campus in the morning and remain off until the end of school. Cell phones should be kept in either locker or backpack, not in pocket, during the school day, Extended Day as well as Athletics. From 3:15 to 3:30 students may power up their phones to check messages or contact parents about pick-up times. Cell phones that are out or in use (other than from 3:15-3:30) will be confiscated and turned in to the Middle School Head. In the event that a phone is confiscated, the student will be required to call a parent or guardian from the front desk to inform them that the cell phone has been taken, the reason why, and that the parent/guardian needs to contact the front desk either through email at frontdesk@sfschool.org or by phone in order for the student to retrieve the phone at the end of the day. When emailing the front desk, please include the Middle School Head (cmader@sfschool.org). It is up to the student to retrieve the phone from the front desk, including if the phone is confiscated during Extended Day or Athletics. A second offense will result in a meeting with the student, parent/guardian and Middle School Head to discuss further consequences which may include revoking phone privileges on campus. Communication with students or parents/guardians during the day should be done through the front desk at 415-239- 5065.
