I was born in San Francisco, am a bookworm, and love the California coast.
I earned my BS at UC Berkeley in Botany and have continued to build on my love of natural science through the Point Reyes California Naturalist Program and trainings at Occidental Arts and Ecology Center.
I started teaching Fourth Grade at The San Francisco School for 14 years, loving the deep connections with kids. When my son, Eric, was three years old, I took a sabbatical and earned my Masters in Library Science at San Jose State University. My son is now in college after having spent 11 wonderful years at SFS.
I worked as the librarian and naturalist at The San Francisco School for 15 years and am now focusing exclusively on the role of naturalist.
One of my favorite quotes: “With freedom, books, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?” -Oscar Wilde
