“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I – I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” -Robert Frost

I grew up nestled in the suburbs of Long Island, bicycling and frolicking in parks, backyards and streets.  We played school, hide & seek, stoopball and kickball by day, and sought frogs, turtles, rabbits and lighting bugs by night.

I earned a B.S. from Adelphi University in Physical Education and soon traveled the country installing computers and training people on how to use them.  I frequently visited California and knew it would be my home.  San Francisco offered mild weather, a warmer welcome for lgbtqqi folks and, in 1989, an opportunity to teach P.E. at The San Francisco School. I fell for the kids, faculty, staff and every family as well as each nook and cranny of this campus.

I taught P.E. to preschool through 8th grade and over the years also served as the Athletic Director, Extended Day Director, Student Council Advisor, Middle School Algebra teacher and Service Learning Coordinator. I am consistently inspired by the inquiry and conversation among the faculty, Board, committees and parents as we endeavor to create the most meaningful program for the students. In 2007 I moved into Administration where I savor collaborating with our entire community to assure we live up to the SFS Mission.

When not at SFS, I am often birdwatching in McLaren Park with my partner, Petra, and our happy-go-lucky Weimaraner, Atticus.  I also serve on the Portola Neighborhood Association, working closely with dedicated neighbors to build community and beautify the area!
