Sensorial Materials

What are my five senses and how do they help me learn about the world around me?

The sensorial materials used in our classroom were designed by Maria Montessori to give children hands-on experience comparing and classifying their environment.

By isolating qualities like shape, color, texture, and weight, these activities help children explore their environment and learn about their world.

The sensorial materials are carefully presented to children by their teachers, who encourage them to work repeatedly with the materials and then invent new variations of their own.
