Young Opera Singers perform for 7th Grade

Tagged with:

As part of their music listening curriculum, the class enjoyed an up close and personal performance and conversation with singers in the Flex Room.

Last Friday three young opera singers from the San Francisco Conservatory sang for the 7th graders in their music class. Corinne Rydman, mezzo-soprano (partner of SFS Spanish teacher Logan Campbell) brought two of her colleagues, Sabrina Romero, soprano and Sydney Ragland, tenor. All three singers sang solos and then blended their voices in a Mozart ensemble scene, arranged by SFS music teacher James Harding. They answered questions from the 7th graders about their favorite languages to sing in, what it’s like to sing on stage in costumes and wigs, and whether they also sing other styles of music. It turns out that Romero also sings with Mariachi bands, Rydman sings jazz and musical theater, and Ragland sings gospel.

Corinne Rydman will be back singing with the 7th grade ensemble in the Middle School Spring Concert, May 11th in the Community Center.
