SFS Families Tripled the Fun

Written by SFS Parent, Jeanie Chang

There was a big party in the streets of Bernal Heights this past weekend—on Saturday, September 12th, 20 lucky Rock Around the Clock Auction bidders (and their fifteen hosts) enjoyed a night of babysitting, specialty cocktails and food while raising $2,000 for the tuition assistance program at SFS.

The merrymaking began on Bonview Street. After dropping off the kids for dinner, play at Holly Park and movies (hosted by Jim Macksood and Bruce McCarthy), our revelers gathered half a block away for a traditional Korean roast and rice balls with Asian iced tea (hosted by Jeanie Chang and Dana Burd, Sarah and David Whitelaw, Rachel Benson and Mike Demmer). With their official souvenir glasses in hand, the crowd then migrated up the hill on Anderson Street for a sumptuous charcuterie and a tart New England cocktail (hosted by Ali Gass and Alec Hathaway, Lamisse Droubi and Steve Holman, James Maxwell and Kevin Herglotz). Finally, the happy revelers proceeded back down the hill on Bocana Street for an international smorgasbord of grilled padrón peppers, sashimi, cubanos and rice cakes with an exotic tamarind cocktail (hosted by Melita DeHazes and Derrick Rebello).

It was a fun evening with new acquaintances and old friends; parents of Preschoolers, Elementary School kids and Middle School students; conversation, tantalizing drinks & lavish food—a great time for a great cause!
