3rd Grade Head Teacher and Social Justice Curriculum Task Force Co-Leader
I love teaching 3rd Grade because it’s developmentally when the mind of a learner grows by leaps and bounds. Abstraction and perspective get going and reflect the world back to kids during this time. The a-ha moments are countless.
I joined the SFS community in 2021 as the 3rd Grade Head Teacher. Professionally, I came from small progressive schools in the East Bay that challenged me and my students to show who we are with our classwork. I value that I get to continue that kind of work here at SFS, through all of our curriculum. Personally, I’m usually dreaming of a vegan pastry or basking in the prose of a recent lit-fic read on my BART commute.
With a BA in two majors English and Art History (Rice University), an MA in Visual Studies (UC Irvine), and another MA in Curriculum and Instruction (University of the Pacific/ Bay Area Teacher Training Institute [BATTI]), I’m one of those people that can’t get enough of learning; lucky for me, 3rd graders are such great teachers.
